The death of Lou Dobbs at 78 closes the chapter on one of cable news’s most polarizing figures, but it does little to resolve the debate he inspired. Over a long career that began in radio and rose to prominence at CNN, Dobbs helped shape the tone of modern business and political broadcasting with a style that was direct, authoritative, and often confrontational.
To supporters, he was a fearless truth-teller who spoke for overlooked Americans. Donald Trump counted him among those voices.
