A large fire erupted earlier today in the central part of a city, triggering widespread evacuations and a major emergency response as flames rapidly spread through multiple buildings in a densely populated district.
The fire reportedly began shortly after 2:30 p.m. in a mixed-use structure containing both commercial businesses on the lower floors and residential apartments above. Witnesses described hearing a sudden loud explosion or bang just before smoke began pouring from the upper levels.
