Dangerous Escalation in the Persian Gulf: Reports Claim Iranian Attacks on U.S. Bases

A dramatic escalation is being reported in the Persian Gulf, with Iranian state television, citing the country’s military, announcing the launch of attacks against U.S. military bases across the region.

According to the reports, Iranian forces targeted several U.S. installations in the Gulf as authorities in multiple countries urged residents to remain indoors and avoid military areas as a precaution.

Reuters reported that a powerful explosion was heard in Abu Dhabi, while the United Arab Emirates reportedly closed its airspace amid the unfolding situation. Reports also claim that Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE was targeted by Iranian ballistic missiles, with large explosions observed in the area.

In Bahrain, smoke was reportedly seen in the Al Jufair district, home to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters, following what has been described as an alleged Iranian attack.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Interior Ministry reportedly advised residents to shelter in place as a Patriot missile defense system allegedly intercepted a missile targeting Al Udeid Air Base. Authorities also announced the closure of the country’s airspace.

As the situation continues to develop, many of the reported details remain subject to independent confirmation. Official statements from the governments involved and military authorities are expected to provide further clarity.
