Rapper Who Funneled Millions In Illegal Donations to Obama Campaign Jailed💥💥

Grammy-winning rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, a founding member of the Fugees, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison following his conviction in a high-profile foreign influence case. The sentence was delivered by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in Washington, D.C. Michel, 52, declined to speak before the court announced its decision.

A federal jury found Michel guilty in April 2023 on 10 counts, including conspiracy, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government. Prosecutors said he played a central role in a scheme involving foreign money and efforts to influence U.S. political processes. The trial drew national attention and included testimony from actor Leonardo DiCaprio and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The U.S. Department of Justice argued that federal sentencing guidelines supported a far more severe punishment, potentially life in prison. Prosecutors described Michel’s actions as a serious betrayal, claiming he knowingly prioritized financial gain over national interests and repeatedly misled investigators.

Michel’s attorney, Peter Zeidenberg, strongly objected to the outcome, calling the 14-year sentence excessive and unfair. He confirmed that Michel intends to appeal both the conviction and the sentence. The defense had previously requested a much shorter three-year term, arguing that harsher penalties are typically reserved for far more serious crimes, such as terrorism or major drug trafficking.

In a separate development, former President Barack Obama recently urged Democrats to embrace ideological diversity within the party. Speaking on a podcast, he encouraged leaders to avoid rigid standards and include a broad range of perspectives as part of the party’s future direction.
